Originally from Mayo, He has called Galway home for several years since studying in the University of Galway. While his academic background lies in Marine Science, his passion for photography started 10 years ago when he delved into photography as a hobby. Embracing the great outdoors, his lens focuses on Ireland’s captivating landscapes, with a keen eye for the coastal beauty, mountainous vistas, and the enchanting night sky. Despite Ireland’s unpredictable weather for capturing the night sky, the rarity of those moments enhances the magic when they unfold. Over the past few years, he has won many prizes including the annual competition run by DIAS and Irish Times’s called “Reach for the Stars” with a fantastic image that showcased the Milky Way over Pine Island in Connemara while also securing the prestigious title of “World Landscape Photographer of the Year” in 2021 with his striking image capturing a storm in Doolin, County Clare. In this fascinating talk, he will include images from Ireland and around the world and will highlight astronomy events such as the Milky Way core, the Aurora Borealis, Moon rise/set and more. He will talk about his equipment and how he plans to get the best pictures. While he will also explain how he got certain pictures with the process and story behind them.
