Deep Sky Astrophotography

Enda Kelly
March 4th @7pm – Wicklow Library- “Deep Sky Astrophotography”

Enda Kelly from is an amateur astronomer from Wicklow but he is also one of Irelands best high resolution Planetary and Lunar photographers. In 2024 one of his Jupiter images was awarded one of the “Judges Favourites” in the national “Reach for the Stars” astrophotography exhibition and was displayed along with all the other leading entries along Burlington road in Dublin. To capture his excelllent images he uses  Celestron C11 XLT that is a portable and powerful telescope for serious astrophotography and ideal for very high magnifications need for Enda’s  high-contrast images.

In the free talk at Wicklow library in partnership with Irish Astronomy Week 2025 he will be talking through some of the basic gear you need to get started capturing images of the night sky. He will also cover widefield, Milky Way, planetary, and deep sky imaging (nebulae, galaxies, star clusters) and hopefully get outside to do some planetary observing.
