Participating Irish Astronomy Clubs and Organisations
There are over 20 Irish astronomy clubs and societies in existence, the oldest being the Irish Astronomical Society formed in 1937. All clubs are informal and cater for the complete beginner as well as the more advanced amateur astronomers. They hold regular monthly meetings, observing, workshops, and other events for members and the public alike. While most give talks to the likes of cub scouts, schools, and other organisations around the county. The majority of Irish clubs are part of an umbrella group called IFAS (Irish Federation of Astronomical Societies) that liaise together, where practicable, for their mutual benefit.
