Founded in 1937, the Irish Astronomical Society (I.A.S.) is the longest-existing astronomical organization in Ireland. Michael McCreary is their President and in his talk, he will explore how our Solar System formed about 4.5 billion years ago from a dense cloud of interstellar gas and dust. He will also look at the so-called “Goldilocks” zone and why we think life as we know it evolved only on Earth. Finally, he will look at how our Solar system will end in another 4.5 billion year’s time.
