Joey Desmond is one of Ireland’s leading astrophotographers, in his spare time he takes stunning photos of galaxies, nebulae, the planets and the Sun, all in exquisite detail. His talk will start as an introduction to astrophotography, how it can be done in a light-polluted sky such as Dublin City and why any person can learn it once they put in the time and research. He will then move on to advanced astrophotography of objects like galaxies and will show how to image our star, the Sun and how to do it in complete safety. Finally, Joey will talk about why he got interested in this hobby and will share his passion by displaying his equipment and showing how to process photos on a laptop with simple photographic software like Pixinsight.
